After 10 years, SPN you still have your heart.  That was a lovely tribute of an episode, not too heavy-handed, but enough meaningful and hilarious hat tips that showed thoughtful, heartfelt intentions with a nice side of good-natured jabs.  Love how this episode walked the line between acknowleging and poking fun of its fans and the sometimes bizarreness of fanfiction without laughing at its fans and the sometimes bizarreness of fanfiction.  Fans write because they love SPN, and now SPN writes because they love the fans.  Well done, Robbie Thompson.  Well done.

And regardless of anything else that happens from now on out, I have my shot of Sam and Dean driving down an empty road and into the sunset together. :)

It was so good! I was embarrassed that it was going to be cringeworthy, but I don't think I cringed even once!

I loved how Dean and Sam reacted to the idea of the musical. It was so awesome.

The only thing that worried me was that they apparently killed the music of epic poetry. ): But, she'll probably grow back. :)

So many wonderful moments, and I really loved the two girls. :D

Yes, my second-hand embarrassment was on high alert, but luckily it was all for nothing. :) I loved how both Sam and Dean warmed up to the musical and the girls and in the end had a real fondness for them. It's not unlike how I imagine the relationship with fandom may have evolved. Because seriously I'd be more than a little freaked out to learn about myself in a starring role of gay incestuous fanfic or gay real life fanfic (tbh, real-person fic freaked me out when I first learned about it, but now I'm habituated).

Ha, it's Supernatural after all, everyone comes back. ;)

Oooo, it's you!! *pompoms*

It was a fabulous episode and I totally love it! So many moments and details and references. *flails*

And yes, the boys driving into the sunset was awesome. Better yet, they had the prop!amulet in there which kinda means that the fans are right there with them. :D

Yes, ME! \o/ It's a sad state of affairs when it takes some thought about how to navigate to my own journal in order to post something. Oops.

I've been meaning to wander over to your journal to engage in the squee. Life, however, has other plans for me. :( The end of the semester is approaching, though, so I will (hopefully) have a tad more time. In fact, I wanted to let you know that I can post the spnematography prompts for Dec. starting on the 9th until the end of the month if you want a break. I'm not sure of the air dates/winter hiatus schedule for that time, but I can post for whatever episodes are airing.

*blames LJ for messing with the friends page & stuff*

Yay for possibly life easing up! I've been having some time-consuming RL stuff going on this month (mostly science stuff), but I decided that the one thing that I will not compromise is my weekly squee. Everything else can be shuffled. :) I think I saw somewhere that 10x09 airs on Dec 9nd and it's the last ep before Xmatus. But if you can post the prompt then, it's more than fine with me. :D And I think that I may be somewhat busy then, also, so it'd be kinda perfect. :)

OK Dec. 9th it is, then! Sorry that I can't help sooner or that there aren't more episodes before the hiatus. It's the end of the semester and grades have to be submitted etc. and then I'm going to have to start gearing up for the spring semester ASAP (so the same thing this semester doesn't happen next semester). My family and A's family are coming into town back-to-back for the entire month, too. *meep*

Good for you for making Show Squee a priority! \o/ I clearly need to get my priorities straight. ;)

Agree so much, it very much did walk a fine line but did it with love and it worked really well for me too

And regardless of anything else that happens from now on out, I have my shot of Sam and Dean driving down an empty road and into the sunset together. :)

It makes me kind of sad that there was a sort of finality about it, like the ousting of old, draw a line under the past and on with the new show. The king (Kripke) is dead, long live the king (Carver).

Glad that you enjoyed it, too. Episodes like these remind me what what this show means and that there's still the potential for hidden gems.

It makes me kind of sad that there was a sort of finality about it, like the ousting of old, draw a line under the past and on with the new show.

I can see that. It did have a bittersweet-farewell feeling, which was probably why I was teary and cheering at the same time. But for me, any episode that hits on those early-season family bonds where the boys show a genuine affection for each other makes me feel nostalgic and a little sad. And strangely I'm annoyed that I get sad bec. in my mind I want to be happy and excited. Sad means the best is in the past. :(
